The student artist participants chose to represent the 1st, 15th, and 19th amendments to the U.S. Constitution. The three main figures, left to right are:
1st Amendment, freedom of speech - Witter Bynner, openly gay Santa Fe writer;

15th Amendment, right to vote regardless of race or color - Miguel Trujillo, Native American activist who won the right to vote for Native Americans in New Mexico;

19th Amendment : right for women to vote - Nina Otero-Warren, women’s suffragist and political leader.
